The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has raised serious concerns over the use of the real-time traffic and tracking application Waze, saying it jeopardizes the lives of police officers by revealing their locations.

Michelle Obama Hosts LAPD Captain, Sergeant at SOTU

First Lady Michelle Obama will host Captain Phil Tingirides and Sergeant Emada Tingirides of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in a box seat at Tuesday night’s State of the Union Address in Washington, D.C. The First Lady’s invitation comes as “#BlackLivesMatter” demonstrations have targeted the LAPD, among other departments, for alleged brutality against unarmed black suspects.

Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the Los Angeles Police Department on Sunday to stage an “All Lives Matter” rally in support of police, who have come under increasing criticism from the “Black Lives Matter” movement in Los Angeles and around the country. A small “Black Lives Matter” counter-demonstration gathered opposite.
