GOP Rep: Paul Ryan’s Immigration Policy Not ‘in Best Interest of America’
House Speaker Paul Ryan’s immigration policy is not “in the best interest of America,” says Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks.

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s immigration policy is not “in the best interest of America,” says Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) is joining Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Jeff Sessions to push for legislation to increase immigration enforcement and crack down on guest worker abuse.

There is no shortage of American workers, but rather a surplus that drives down wages and is exacerbated by ever increasing levels immigration, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), says.

Republican House members blasted their GOP leadership Wednesday for caving to Democratic leaders by abandoning the House’s bipartisan bill to tighten screening of refugee applicants from Syria and Iraq.

A letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY) requesting that the year-end spending bill feature language to fully defund refugee resettlement to the U.S. has 57 co-signers, according to the letter’s author Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX).

“It will be very difficult for me to vote for any funding bill that risks American lives by improving the chances of successful terrorist attacks on American cities,” Mo Brooks said in an interview with Breitbart News Tuesday. “And so if that’s the funding bill Barack Obama and the House and Senate leadership want me to support they’re going to need to look elsewhere for votes.”

As Paul Ryan takes over as Speaker of the House, he has a big shadow falling across his new gavel. To get the office, Ryan vowed to uphold a promise made by former Speaker Dennis Hastert.

“The proposed debt deal takes as much as $150 billion from the Social Security Trust Fund for retirees and transfers the cash to the fraud-ridden disability program,” Sen. Sessions and Rep. Brooks write. “There is no ‘surplus’ in the retirement Trust Fund to spend somewhere else – Social Security will be insolvent by 2034 and has a $9.4 trillion unfunded liability.”

Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL), a member of the House Freedom Caucus suggested that Republicans should “perhaps” look at someone other than Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), who he described as “from the liberal half” of the conference, as speaker and that
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) acknowledged on Breitbart News Sunday that since no candidate has a clear pathway to becoming the next Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner could remain Speaker through January 2017.

During Friday’s Yellowhammer Radio with Cliff Sims, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) discussed the resignation of House Speaker John Boehner. While Boehner’s resignation is not effective until October 30, Brooks speculated on who the replacement would be, saying there is a “smorgasbord”

Brooks pointed to estimates from the Pew Hispanic Center that American workers ceded 7.8 million jobs to illegal immigrants in 2009 and a 2013 Federation for American Immigration Reform estimate that illegals took 8.5 million jobs away from Americans. He added that studies point to wage suppression due to cheap illegal immigrant labor — pinning wages lost at about $800 a year for high school graduates and $2,300 lost in annual income for low-skilled labor.

“Last Wednesday, President Obama said that the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) could be amended after its adoption to add China to the agreement, raising new questions about the powers Congress is ceding to the executive through fast-track approval,” Brooks and Reps. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), Duncan Hunter (R-CA), Walter Jones (R-NC), Ted Yoho (R-FL), and Gary Palmer (R-AL) wrote on Wednesday to Ryan in a letter that was just made public this morning.

Silence isn’t golden. All 20 Republican lawmakers who voted against an amendment that prevents illegals from enlisting in the U.S. military refused to answer questions from Breitbart News regarding the expedited citizenship most illegals would have been eligible for once they joined the armed forces.

Despite 20 Republicans defecting to join Democrats, Republicans and conservatives won big on Thursday evening: An amendment from Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) passed onto the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) stripping amnesty for illegal aliens from the defense bill.

The House voted to strip language from the National Defense Authorization Act that would have called on the Pentagon to consider allowing illegal immigrants granted executive amnesty — via Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)— to serve in the U.S. military.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) is calling on his House colleagues to support the effort to remove an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act seeking to allow illegal immigrants granted executive amnesty to enlist in the military.

At 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the House Rules Committee will begin general debate on the NDAA—and will wrap its discussion on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Because of the significance of these proceedings, Breitbart News will be carrying a live blog of them launching at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

More than two dozen Republicans are calling on the House Rules Committee to eliminate an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would call on the Secretary of Defense to make illegal immigrants granted executive amnesty eligible to serve in the U.S. military.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) should not be used as a vehicle to pursue allowing illegal immigrants to serve in the U.S. military, according Reps. Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Dave Brat (R-VA).

“It’s appalling that some members of the Republican conference, and frankly all members of the Democratic conference, place illegal immigrants on pedestals over American citizens, contrary to the needs and wishes of the American people,” Rep. Mo Brooks says.
