MCALLEN, Texas –The Mexican drug cartel blamed for the recent ambush that killed 15 police officers in the state of Jalisco has now made the list of criminal organizations targeted by the U.S Department of Treasury.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control just added the New Generation Cartel of Jalisco to their list of Specially Designated Nationals. Those individuals and their organizations which make the lists are generally International drug cartels, organized crime syndicates or terrorist organizations. When the group or individual is added to the list, their assets in the U.S. are seized and American citizens are prohibited from doing business with them.

In addition to being added to the list, the cartel’s main leader Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes was also added individually.

As Breitbart Texas previously reported, the New Generation Cartel of Jalisco is the prime suspect in an ambush that killed 15 state cops in Jalisco. The group is also thought to be behind the attempted murder of Jalisco’s Federal Security Commissioner and another ambush that killed five Mexican Federales as well as two bystanders. The group had been a faction of the Sinaloa Federation designed to lead the charge against Los Zetas, however since the 2010 death of Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel, the group began to act in an independent fashion and unconfirmed banners point to a possible alliance with an offshoot of the Tijuana Cartel.
