The Mexican government has issued a statement calling out the recent actions taken by a U.S. Border Patrol Agent who shot an illegal alien in self-defense during a brutal attack.

Breitbart Texas broke the news on Friday morning that a Border Patrol agent from the Yuma Sector in Arizona had been forced to shoot one illegal alien after having to fight for his life while attempting to apprehend a group of three illegals immigrants. The now deceased illegal alien had managed to steal the agents baton and beat him various times during the struggle. The alien also tried to take the agents weapon. The shooting ended up being a measure of self-defense where the agent required medical care for various injuries from the attack,  the information published by Breitbart Texas revealed. The illegal alien was also transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Border Patrol officials acknowledged the attack and shooting later that day. “During the arrest, the subject grabbed the agent’s radio and collapsible steel baton and began striking him in the face and head while he also attempted to remove the Agent’s sidearm from its holster,” officials said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “The agent, fearing for his life, discharged his weapon, which struck the suspect.”

The Border Patrol agent’s injuries included multiple bruises and lacerations to his head, face and torso, one of which required stitches to close the wound. He was also diagnosed with a concussion, officials revealed.

Despite the brutality of the attack that the agent suffered, the Mexican government has called out the actions of the agent in their latest statement.

“Mexico has stated in a reiterated fashion that the use of lethal force in migratory control and border security actions must be as a last resort, in addition to being proportional to the circumstances of each case, the statement from Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE) revealed.

In response to the shooting, the Mexican government is asking for a “transparent, impartial and expedited investigation.” The statement from the SRE makes no mention of the attack that the illegal alien carried against the U.S. Border Patrol agents that led to the shooting.

“Our country reaffirm our commitment to continue pushing concerted actions to reduce, prevent and investigate issues of this nature,” the SRE statement revealed. “Therefore we will continue offering assistance and consular protection to the Mexicans in the United States regardless of their migratory conditions.
