LAUSD Approves School Named After Michelle Obama

The Los Angeles Unified school board, which recently greenlit a $30 million effort to hand 30,000 iPads to students, has now approved a plan to rename the Valley Region Elementary School No. 13 after Michelle Obama. The campus reportedly focuses on healthy eating for students, which is Michelle Obama’s chief publicity campaign during her tenure as First Lady.

There is a school named after former First Lady Laura Bush: Laura Bush Elementary in Texas. Bush was a former school librarian.
