Bookies Suspend Betting on Queen Christmas Adbication

The bookmaker Coral has suspended betting on The Queen announcing she will be abdicating during her Christmas Day message this year.

According to The Daily Telegraph the company said there had been an “unusual” number of wagers placed which “instantly set alarm bells ringing”.

They say they had several online inquiries for the odds it would often on Her Majesty abdicating in her pre-recorded broadcast which the bookmaker said were “so specific” that it smelt a rat.

It started with one £200 bet and several smaller bets followed in quick succession, leaving staff at Coral wondering if people involved in the recording and production of the speech were acting on inside information.

Nicola McGeady, a spokesman for Coral, said: “Throughout the year there has been major speculation about the Queen’s future but today’s gamble has really caught us by surprise.

“As far as we are concerned there’s no smoke without fire when bets like this come through all in succession, so we have decided to be safe rather than sorry and pull the plug on the market.”

Coral had offered odds of 10-1 on the Queen abdicating during the Christmas message.

A spokesman for Her Majesty told Breitbart London that while they would not comment on the actions of a bookmakers, they would “remind people about the two oaths The Queen has made.”

On her 21st birthday on 21st April 1947, she made an address where she said:

“I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.”

The other oath refers to the one made at her coronation in 1953.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage who has had a few public controversies with The Prince of Wales told Breitbart London, “For my well publicised reasons, I hope she doesn’t.”

“I’d rather lay that bet than put it on: I think the punters that are betting on Her Majesty abdicating will lose their money” he added.
