Adrian Peterson Indicted on Child Abuse Charge

A Texas grand jury has indicted Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on child abuse charges.

The charges stem from a May visit in Houston with Peterson by his four-year-old son. The boy returned to his mother with cuts and marks. Peterson alledgedly acknowledged that he disciplined–he used the word “whoop”–his son with a switch from a tree.

The six-time All Pro faces the specific charge of “reckless or negligent injury to a child.”

Last year, a boyfriend of the mother of one of Peterson’s children allegedly murdered the two-year old. The former NFL MVP took criticism for never meeting that child and learning of his existence shortly before his death.

Peterson has rushed for 10,115 yards in seven NFL seasons, scoring 91 touchdowns.
