Armed Man Walks into Baltimore Police Station to ‘Test Police Security’

On January 6, a man armed with a loaded handgun walked into Baltimore’s Northeast District Police Department station “to test police security.” Upon being apprehended, he reportedly said that “Black Guerrilla Family (BGF) gang members had put him up to it.”

According to The Washington Post, the 29-year-old man, “smelling of marijuana,” walked into the police station possessing “a loaded .22 caliber handgun with a bullet in the chamber and drugs.”

This comes less than a month after the Baltimore FBI warned that BGF was going after “white cops” in the the state of Maryland–that they were planning attacks on white officers “to send a message.”

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts said, “We’re really lucky for a person to walk into a police station fully armed and loaded with drugs on him that we didn’t end up in a terrible situation.” An alert was sent to Baltimore police officers after the incident, warning them “to be on the lookout for BGF gang members and to notify the Northeastern District if contact was made with any of them.”
