Chris Christie: Pope Francis ‘Wrong’ On Cuba

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says Pope Francis is wrong on Cuba, as the pontiff met with Fidel and Raul Castro during his visit to the communist country know for persecuting the Catholic Church and political dissidents.

During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, Christie reminded the audience that the pope’s supposed infallibility only applies to religion, not politics.

“The fact is that his infallibility is on religious matters, not on political ones,” said Christie, a Catholic. Pope Francis drew criticism from anti-Castro critics after meeting with the aged communist dictator on Sunday.

“I just happen to disagree with the pope on this one,” Christie said, pointing out that Cuba was still harboring Joanne Chesimard, an accused cop-killing fugitive from New Jersey.

He added that it was “outrageous” that Obama failed to secure Chesimard’s return to the United States to face justice.
