Chris Christie on California Attack: ‘We’re In The Middle Of The Next World War’

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie clearly described the shooting in California as a terrorist attack, asserting that the fight against the Islamic State is the next World War.

“Now there’s many people today that who are still trying to speculate about what happened in San Bernardino yesterday,” he said. “Let me tell you as a former prosecutor – from the time I began to watch the events unfold last night, I am convinced that was a terrorist attack.”

Christie made his remarks during a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition forum and criticized President Obama for refusing to identify the attack as terrorism, instead urging everyone to wait for the facts to come in.

“The president continues to wring his hands and say ‘we’ll see’ but those folks, dressed in tactical gear, with semi-automatic weapons came there to do something,” he said.

He also defended the idea of condemning “radical Islam” as the enemy.

“Radical Islam isn’t a criticism of Islam. It’s a criticism of radicalism,” he said.

He warned all Americans to be aware of the threat facing the country from organizations like the Islamic State.

“We need to come to grips with the idea that we are in the next World War,” he said.
