Busloads of pro-life activists from the Midwest who participated in the March for Life in Washington, D.C. have been stranded for nearly a full day and counting on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as a result of Storm Jonas.

Catholic priests celebrated Mass after pilgrims joined together to build an altar made of snow.

Maddie Schulte, Wisconsin Regional Coordinator of Students for Life of America, writes about her experience:

On Friday morning, I proudly marched in the March for Life in Washington D.C. Trying to beat the storm; I jumped on a bus with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, a short three hours later we found our bus at a dead stop.

Twenty-four hours later, 20 miles worth of cars, semis, and buses are buried in two to three feet of snow.

But like I said, nothing will stop this pro-life generation. I am honored to be trapped with the high school students from St. Paul/Minneapolis and God has granted us with plenty of time for me to properly train and equip their groups. Even in the midst of hunger, exhaustion, and fear, these students are on fire for the pro-life cause and willing to do whatever it takes to save lives.

We would really appreciate any prayers you can offer during this time.

“We have now been stuck over 15 hours in the snow because of this so called #jonasblizzard but that isn’t ruining our spirits!” said Iowans for LIFE Associate Director Mary Granzow in a Facebook post Saturday morning, according to LifesiteNews. “We are still on a pilgrimage for life including Mass outside in the snow, snowball fights, and making sure those driving by know that every life matters!”

Others stranded reportedly include marchers from Nebraska, Sioux City and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Milwaukee.
