Sen. Marco Rubio responded to the latest attacks from Donald Trump and the recent endorsement of the billionaire candidate by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
“He’s a clown,” Rubio laughed, after Fox News Host Bret Baier played a clip of Trump mocking the Flordia senator for being a “choker,” a “nasty guy” and acting like a “nervous basket case” and a “little frightened puppy.”
Rubio repeated that Trump was a “con-man” who was taking over the Republican party with his tricky policies.
When asked to respond to Christie’s endorsement of Trump, Rubio hinted that Trump needed someone to help him after a bad debate performance.
“I think they probably called him in to help Donald after a very rough evening last night, and a rough day today on the trail as he is now being exposed as a con-man,” Rubio replied.
Baier pointed out that Trump was leading in almost every state that would hold elections on Super Tuesday, suggesting that Rubio was mistaken for attacking him.
“I didn’t say he wasn’t a good con-man,” Rubio said. “Obviously he’s been able to convince people of his arguments that he’s making.”
