The long-rumored reckoning at the left-wing Vice Media appears to be underway. Three employees were fired Thursday for conduct ranging from “verbal and sexual harassment to other behavior that is inconsistent with our policies,” reads an internal memo first reported by the left-wing CNN.
Because the left-wing media does not believe in transparency, the names of the fired employees have not been released. Vice refused any comment beyond a cryptic statement.
Two weeks ago the Daily Beast published a report about a “toxic sexual harassment culture” at Vice that detailed a long history of libertine behavior within the organization, one in which female staffers felt pressured to go along with in order to advance.
The following week, CNN (which is dealing with its own sexual harassment scandal), published a piece about the “heightened sense of dread” at Vice brought on by the fear that the “company’s sinister past” would result in a “asteroid” hitting the company.
Vice is a huge enterprise with a reported valuation of $5.5 billion, which also means that this scandal could not have come at a worse time for company CEO Shane Smith (pictured), who is eager to take his company public and who just received a $450 million investment back in June
