NEW YORK — President Donald Trump’s support for Israel has been bringing the winds of positive change into the corridors of the United Nations, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told Breitbart News in an interview.

“We see the winds coming from Washington to New York and we feel it in the corridors of the United Nations,” Danon said. “And we are very optimistic to continue to make changes in the United Nations.”

He continued: “We are very happy to hear Ambassador Nikki Haley taking a stand with American values. With the real values supporting Israel. We saw it in the Security Council, when she told my colleagues, the ambassadors, to focus on the real threats in the Middle East. Focus on a run. Hezbollah. Hamas. Not Israel. And also with her approach, which gives courage for the continued support of Israel in the United Nations.”

On Tuesday, Haley, who is due in Israel for a visit this week, warned at the opening session of the UN in New York that the U.S could pull out of the United Nations Human Rights Council due to the body’s notorious anti-Israel bias.

“As you know, the United States is looking carefully at this Council and our participation in it,” Haley stated. “It is essential that this council address is chronic anti-Israel bias if it is to have any credibility.”

“In this session of the Council, it is crucial to adopt the strongest possible resolutions on the critical human rights situations in Syria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Belarus, and Ukraine, and that it follow up to prevent further human rights violations and abuses in those countries,” she said.

Danon spoke to Breitbart News on the sidelines of the Israel Day Concert in Central Park, which marked the 50th anniversary of Israel’s reunification of Jerusalem following the 1967 Six Day War.

Concert speakers included this reporter, Danon, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Consul General of Israel in New York Dani Dayan, President of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) Morton Klein, and concert organizer Dr. Joe Frager.
