U.S. Border Patrol Agents joined with Royal Canadian Mounties to stop five Polish citizens from illegally entering the United States.
Border Patrol agents observed two individuals in a boat on the St. Clair River. The pair left the American side of the river and headed directly into Canadian waters. Agents contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who work border security on the Canadian side of the border. The Mounties observed people being loaded into the boat before it headed back to the U.S., information obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials revealed.
The Mounties advised Border Patrol agents the boat was headed back in their direction, loaded down with what appeared to be human cargo.
The boat named the “Sacrebleu” returned to the River Street Marina in Port Huron, Michigan with six people on board. They were arrested for illegal entry into the United States.
“Human smuggling can have disastrous implications to our national security, international relations, public health, economic/labour market and affects the integrity of our Immigration system.” RCMP Superintendent Jamie Jagoe said in a written statement. “Through collaborative efforts, with our partner agencies, we are always working to protect the integrity of our shared border”.
The driver of the boat was a Polish citizen living in the United States. Piotr Lisiecki was arrested and charged with bringing in and harboring certain aliens. He was also charged with improper entry entry by an alien.
His passengers, Mona Dolinska, Maria Hauf, Jan Hauf, Roman Kowalski, and Wanda Kowalska were all charged with improper entry by an alien.
“This was an outstanding coordinated effort between two countries,” Chief Patrol Agent Douglas Harrison said in his written statement. “Our agents keen sense of situational awareness and our interoperability with RCMP were instrumental in coordinating this cross border smuggling attempt.”
The Polish illegal aliens were taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Michigan for possible prosecution.
