2 Honduran Sex Offenders Busted After Crossing Border Again

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector in south Texas arrested a pair of previously deported sex offenders. Both deportees’ sexual offenses involved minors.

Oswaldo Bienvenido Galo-Garcia, 57, was apprehended on December 4 by agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station after crossing the border illegally, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. While processing the illegal alien, agents used biometric identification and discovered Galo-Garcia had previously been deported after a June 1993 sexual offense involving a minor.

Law enforcement officials in Pharr, Texas, arrested Galo-Garcia and charged him with indecency with a child. At the time, Galo-Garcia used the alias “Alexander Lopez Jr.,” Border Patrol officials stated. He was convicted of the offense and sentenced to two years of probation. On September 25, 2015, ICE Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) Agents deported Galo-Garcia back to his home country of Honduras.

Three days later, agents assigned to the nearby Brackettville Station arrested Oscar Omar Rivas-Izaguirre, 24, after he illegally crossed the border from Mexico. The background investigation by Border Patrol agents revealed the Honduran national was previously convicted in the United States on a sexual offense involving a minor. He was convicted in October 2013 on a charge of child-fondling, officials stated. ERO agents deported Rivas-Izaguirre on September 28, 2015 to Honduras.

“Two serious offenders were stopped short of possibly doing more harm to the people of this great nation,” Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak said in a written statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “The commitment our Border Patrol agents have in keeping America secure is a continuous effort; and this is one more example.”

Both of the Honduran men may face new charges in the United States of illegal re-entry after deportation as a sex offender. If convicted, the men could be sentenced to spend up to twenty years each in a U.S. federal prison.
