HOUSTON, Texas — A fired employee at a Houston area transportation showed up to his former workplace with a shotgun on Wednesday morning. The worker pulled out a shotgun and killed one person and injured another before turning the gun on himself.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about shots fired at Knight Transportation Company in the western part of the county near Katy, Texas. When the deputies arrived at the scene they found that a man who had recently been fired had walked into the business and began shooting, KHOU CBS11 reported.

Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman told reporters the injured employee was not shot but had suffered some other kind of injury. A Harris County sheriff’s deputy was also injured while responding to the call.

The business was located close to Morton Ranch High School, part of Katy Independent School District. The school was immediately locked down for security purposes. Parents were urged by school officials not to come to the school at this time. All children and faculty are reported to be safe and nothing happened directly at the school. The lockdown was later lifted by school authorities.

The shooting occurred at about 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, ABC13 reported. The injured worker was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries, the Houston ABC affiliate said.

Video from a news helicopter showed deputies searching a white pickup truck outside the business.

Law enforcement and other first responders responded to the incident in what appears to be a mass casualty response. Over a dozen police vehicles and multiple ambulances could be seen at the site of the shooting.

The shooting is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
