CONROE, Texas — Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirm they identified the father of a young boy apparently abandoned on a neighbor’s doorstep by his mother Wednesday night.
Following the release of a video broadcast by KTRK ABC13 in Houston, a man came forward claiming to be the father of two-year-old Royal Prince Simmons. A doorbell video shows a woman running up to a neighbor’s front door, ringing the doorbell multiple times, and running away after leaving the toddler behind.
A resident of a home in the Conroe-area community called sheriff’s office deputies about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday after finding the young boy on their front doorstep. The woman also left two bags behind.
During the 23-second video, a woman is seen frantically running up to the door with the child in her arms. She is seen ringing the Ring doorbell camera multiple times as she sets the child and the bags on the ground. She then quickly runs away.
Police notified Child Protective Services who took custody of the young boy until he can be returned to family members.
