Obama Downplays ISIS Action: This Is Not Equivalent to the Iraq War

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” President Barack Obama said the actions he is taking against ISIS “is not the equivalent of the Iraq war.”

“What I’m going to be asking the American people to understand is, number one, this is a serious threat. Number two, we have the capacity to deal with it.”

“This is not going to be an announcement  of U.S. ground troop. This is not the equivalent of the Iraq war,” Obama said.

“We are going to systematically degrade their capabilities. We’re going to shrink the territory that they control. And that’s how we’re going to defeat them,” he added.

The president emphasized there is no “immediate intelligence” indicates any threat to the U.S. by ISIS on the anniversary of 9/11.
