Boehner: Happy to Call Back Congress for War Resolution Vote if Obama Presents One

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” House Speaker John Boehner said he’d be “happy” to bring back Congress to have a vote authorizing war against ISIS.

When host George Stephanopoulos asked why not have a vote now, the Speaker said, “I’d be happy to. The president typically in a situation like this would call for an authorization vote and go sell that to the American people and send a resolution to the Hill. The president has not done that. He believes he has authority under existing resolutions to do what he’s done.”

Boehner rejected reports he had told “anybody” that a new ISIS resolution would fail, saying, “I did not suggest that to anybody in my caucus or to the president, for that matter.”
