CNN: Chinese State Media Slams Obama Before His Visit

Sunday on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” Associated Press White House correspondent Julie Pace said state-run Chinese media mocked President Barack Obama after the midterm election results by saying, “the American public had downgraded the president and was tired of his banality.”

Pace said, “Well, presidents late in their second term tend to immerse themselves in foreign policy and President Obama is no exception. Less than a week after the midterms, he’s headed to Asia which is really going to be the first test of whether he’s weakened overseas by this election. And officials are now increasingly nervous about the reception he’s going to get in China. There’s a newspaper in China that’s connected to the government that wrote a story before he left saying that the American public had downgraded the president and was tired of his banality. So not exactly the warm welcome they were hoping for.”
