Bergdahl Team Leader: Don’t Let Him Plead Out

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s team leader, Sgt. Evan Buetow (Ret.) said that Bergdahl should not be allowed to plead out to avoid a trial on Saturday’s “Justice with Judge Jeanine” on the Fox News Channel.

“I believe that he needs go to trial. I hope that he does not plea out to something lesser. I hope they don’t allow him to plea out to something lesser. I think that we all deserve to hear from him what happened, why he did what he did. There’s so much controversy surrounding Bowe at this point, yet we have not been able to hear from him. I think we all deserve to know, the American people deserve to know, and he needs to get punished for the things that he did. He put everybody’s lives in danger and soldiers died as a result of his actions, and he needs to answer for that and he needs to be punished” he stated.

Buetow also said that Bergdahl should not be given leniency for his time spent in captivity with the Taliban, and that he did not remember having to sign a nondisclosure agreement about Bergdahl’s disappearance, stating “I do not remember signing a nondisclosure agreement. I know there’s been a lot of talk about that, and I don’t know if it’s just because it’s been so long since that time. But I did provide a sworn statement which I know was included in this — the 2014 investigation, but I don’t remember signing a nondisclosure agreement.” According to MailOnline in June 2014, he told them that he never signed one.
