Two Texas Kids Hit By Cars After Getting Off Bus

Per a Fox 19 report, two kids in the Austin, TX area were struck by vehicles after getting off the school within a span of 24 hours.

“I kept shaking because it’s the most horrible thing to watch,” Amy McFadden, mother to a 12-year-old struck by one of the vehicles, told Fox 19. “There’s nothing worse than that phone call where all you can hear are sirens and a child crying. This driver was not some evil person. He was doing what we all do. We all have days when we’re in a hurry.”

Twenty-four hours later, another student was hit by a car.

This time, the driver ignored the bus’ stop sign, flashing lights and the bus driver’s repeated honking of the horn.

Michael Masue was behind the bus when it happened.

“My heart was racing, it was just so intense,” Masue told Fox 19. “He got knocked I think 10 feet towards my car, he rolled to the side of my driver side window.”

The driver was Masue’s 16-year-old classmate, who later said she was confused by the law of the bus stop sign.

“She didn’t know that you had to stop for the bus stop coming from the opposite way,” Masue said.

The victim, 17, was taken to the hospital by ambulance to get checked out while McFadden’s son walked away with only bumps and bruises. Neither was seriously injured.

The drivers from both incidents were cited by police.
