GOP Sen Lankford: Trump Has ‘Right’ to Strip Brennan Security Clearance, But Should ‘Rise Above’ His Attacks

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) said President Donald Trump was right to revoke former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance, but now he should “rise above” the back and forth.

When asked about Trump’s tweets on Brennan, Lankford said, “It’s president’s style, and it’s not my style in any way. The president is pushing back on Brennan making all these statements over and over again attacking the president. I think the president should rise above it and be able to say that previous administration still with an ax to grind.”

He continued, “I think he can step out and be able to stand above it and move on. The more he talks about it, the more he gives Brennan the microphone.”

He added, “The president has every right to be able to pull that away from somebody, and he has exercised that right. Again at the end of the day, the president can rise above. He is the president of the United States.”
