Lawsuit: J-Lo Booty Shaking ‘Disturbed Public Order and Tarnished Women’s Honor’

Jennifer Lopez may have built a career around her famous backside, but that booty may have landed her in some serious legal trouble after a televised concert in Morocco drew the ire of Islamist members of the ruling Justice and Development Party and at least one educational group.

Lopez, 45, now faces a lawsuit from the North African country following a May 29 provocative concert, which was part of the Mawazine World Rhythms International Music Festival in the capital city of Rabat.

A live crowd of 160,000 viewed the J-Lo performance, and many more watched a broadcast on Moroccan national television, according to the International Business Times.

While risqué clothing and provocative dancing are generally common during the pop star and businesswoman’s shows, those not familiar with Lopez were reportedly upset by the performance, and some have since said such behavior has no place on television.

Both Lopez and a local show promoter are now listed as parties in a lawsuit, filed by an unnamed education group, which, according to TMZ, alleges Lopez “disturbed public order and tarnished women’s honor and respect.”

The show was heavily criticized for its “suggestive poses” and for featuring “scantily” dressed performers, and some have called for the resignation of Moroccan Communication Minister Mustafa Al-Khalfi for allowing the broadcast.

Al-Khalfi announced plans to contact the broadcaster’s ethics committee to discuss the ethical aspects of broadcasting the concert during primetime TV but did not directly criticize J-Lo, according to Fox News.

The minister also responded on Twitter on May 30, saying, “What was broadcast is unacceptable and goes against broadcasting law.”

If found guilty, Lopez could face anywhere from one month to two years in jail.
