Palestinians Launch 'At Least' 60 Rockets' At Israeli Population Centers

UPDATE 3 p.m. EST: IDFBlog.com indicates “IDF responded to the rocket attack” by striking “two terror locations in the northern and southern Gaza Strip with artillery fire.” And although the Palestinian Islamic Jihad claims credit for the rockets that were fired at Israeli population centers, IDF recognizes that “Hamas is responsible for all attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip.”

On March 12, Palestinians in the “Hamas-controlled Gaza strip launched at least 60 rockets at Israeli population centers,” setting off “sirens across the country’s Gaza envelop” and stoking fears that Palestinian terrorists may be preparing for “another round of fighting with the Jewish state.”

According to The Tower, the early claimant for the rockets is Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

Earlier this week a top Hamas official “boasted…that the Iran-backed terror group intends to blanket Israel with missiles and rockets during any future conflagration.” And Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has warned for months that Hamas was prepping itself for “a renewal of violence.”

The rockets of March 12 “come just days after Israeli commandos interdicted an Iranian vessel carrying carrying advanced weapons, including missiles capable of reaching across Israel, to the Gaza Strip.”
