WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 (UPI) — Former Fox News broadcaster Greta Van Susteren will host a new program weeknights on MSNBC.
The president of the network, Phil Griffin, announced that Van Susteren’s new program, “For the Record with Greta,” will premier on Jan. 9 and air weekly from 6 to 7 p.m. Eastern Time, replacing Bloomberg’s political television show, “With All Due Respect.”
“‘For the Record’ will provide news coverage and analysis of the day’s top headlines spanning politics and beyond,” the release stated. “The early evening broadcast will build on MSNBC’s strategic shift to a breaking news focus during the day and, along with ‘MTP Daily’ and ‘Hardball,’ will provide one of the key bridges to primetime.”
Van Susteren, a 25-year cable news veteran, hosted “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” on Fox News for 14 years and previously worked as a legal analyst and co-host at CNN.
“Greta is a true pro with a proven record of tough journalism,” Griffin said. “Her broad range of experience and sharp news judgment will be of great value to MSNBC as we build on our momentum going into a new year and a new administration.”
Van Susteren abruptly left Fox News in September saying the network had not “felt like home” to her in recent years.
“I’m thrilled to start my next chapter at MSNBC,” Van Susteren said. “The network is the right destination for the smart news and analysis I hope to deliver every day, and I look forward to joining the talented journalists and analysts I respect there.”
Van Susteren’s fellow former Fox News host Megyn Kelly made a similar transition, officially announcing her move from Fox News to NBC News on Tuesday.
