April 16 (UPI) — Lana Del Rey surprised fans Thursday by releasing a song for an upcoming James Bond video game.
The Grammy-winning singer, 40, released “First Light,” the theme song for the game 007 First Light. The title hails from IO Interactive, the studio behind Hitman.
“First Light” was written by Del Rey and David Arnold, a composer who wrote the score for five Bond films.
“It’s a joy to watch two extraordinary talents like Lana Del Rey and David Arnold combine forces, the result feels instantly ‘Bond’ while still bringing a fresh identity for 007 First Light,” IO Interactive said in a statement.
007 First Light tells “a fully original, reimagined origin story” of the famous spy. Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) stars as Bond, with the cast also including Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz.
The game is the first Bond video game since Activision’s 007 Legends in 2012.
007 First Light releases May 27 on PlayStation, 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Del Rey is expected to release her 10th album, Stove, later this year.
