Oct. 30 (UPI) — Sombr, Raye and other rising stars stepped out Thursday at the TIME100 Next gala.
The singer-songwriters, who are both previous Grammy Best New Artist nominees, attended the event at Current at Pier 59 in New York City.
The TIME100 Next gala honors emerging stars in entertainment, sports, politics and more.
Other honorees included music artists Megan Moroney and Alex Warren, actors Joey King, Yerin Ha, Chloe Fineman and Isa Briones, and athlete Tyrese Maxey.
In a toast, Warren recalled how his late father always supported and encouraged him, and shared how music brought him comfort and purpose.
“I was never really alone, and now every night, no matter what lyrics I sing or wrong strings I play on my guitar, millions of people around the world are screaming these songs loud enough for anyone we have lost to hear,” the “Ordinary” singer said. “So let’s raise our glass … and toast, but not to flying, but having someone there to catch you if you fall.”
TIME magazine also hosts an annual TIME100 gala celebrating established influential people. Kate Hudson, Blackpink’s Jennie and Hailey Bieber were among this year’s honorees at the event in April.
