The Clinton Foundation disclosed approximately $26.4 million dollars in donations Thursday that had previously been withheld from having any oversight by public entities.
Among the most alarming findings in the new disclosures was that former President Bill Clinton had been paid between $500,000 to $1,000,000 dollars by the government of Qatar to deliver two separate speeches.
Clinton raked in an estimated $250,000 to $500,000 from a speech for the U.S. Islamic World Forum, an outfit of the left-wing Brookings Institute that is funded wholly by the oil sheikhs in Doha.
In another speech, the Qatar First Investment Bank, which is run by the Qatari government (and offers Shariah-compliant banking), paid Mr. Clinton between $250,000 and $500,000 for another speech, the Washington Post reported.
Before the most recent round of disclosures, estimates had stated that the Clinton Foundation had received somewhere between $1 million and $5 million from the Qatari government, according to reports.
Although Qatar is officially an ally of the United States, its government has often openly engaged in troubling acts, such as bankrolling the Muslim Brotherhood, Palestinian terror group Hamas, and funding the Al Qaeda-affiliated Al Nusra front.
The new revelations concerning the Clinton Foundation’s large donations from Qatar comes at the same time the Gulf State has been harshly criticized for its internal human rights abuses. If the situation for migrant workers does not improve within the country, Qatar may be on the verge of losing its 2022 World Cup bid, according to reports.
The heat put forward on the Clinton Foundation to become more transparent with its finances comes following the publication of the new book Clinton Cash, written by Breitbart’s Senior Editor-at-Large, Peter Schweizer.
