Yet another Memphis, Tennessee, police officer has been shot and killed. The latest victim, Officer Terence Olridge, was killed on Sunday just outside his home.

Memphis Police Department (MPS) Director Toney Armstrong, for the second time in 72 days, announced the news of the murder of a MPD officer, according to The Commercial Appeal, a Memphis news outlet. On August 1, another Memphis police officer, Sean Bolton, was shot and killed during a traffic stop.

“It wasn’t very long ago that I stood in very close proximity to where I am standing now, and said something very, very similar to what I’m saying here,” Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong told reporters outside the Regional Medical Center where Olridge died Sunday afternoon. “It just doesn’t get any easier. I didn’t think that we’d be here again so soon.”

The shooting incident began shortly after noon on Sunday. While details are said to be “sketchy” at this time, the Commercial Appeal reports Olfridge may have become involved with a neighbor over a domestic situation. The neighbor was said to have pulled a gun, striking Olridge several times.

Police officials were not clear about whether Olridge was in uniform at the time or not. He normally works the 2-10 shift and was reported to be expected in for duty on Sunday. The incident occurred near Olridge’s driveway where he was found lying mortally wounded.

One neighbor told the Commercial Appeal she heard as many as fifteen shots.

Olridge’s uncle told the local CBS affiliate, WREG, that the officer was in uniform and was on his way to work when he was shot in his car. He said Olridge was able to crawl back to his home to seek help.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his wounds. The suspect is in custody, but has not yet been identified or charged.

Officer Olridge had been with MPD for just over one year. He leaves behind a pregnant fiancée.

In the August 1 incident, Officer Sean Bolton was shot and killed during a traffic stop. Authorities believe he interrupted a drug deal. Shortly after stopping the suspect’s vehicle, the driver ran away, according to USA Today. Bolton questioned the passenger and ordered him out of the vehicle. The passenger, Tremaine Wilbourn, 29, allegedly struggled with Bolton and then pulled a gun. He fired multiple shots at close range.

Wilbourn surrendered to U.S. Marshals after a two-day manhunt. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Olridge and Bolton were the third and fourth MPD officers killed in the line of duty during the past four years. In December, 2012, Martoiya Lan was shot to death while serving a warrant. In July, 2011, Timothy Warren was shot to death in a downtown Memphis hotel.

Olridge was the 100th officer nationally to die in the line of duty this year, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
