O’Malley: We Don’t Do ‘a Damn Thing’ to Keep Assault Weapons Out of People’s Hands

Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Rundown With José Díaz-Balart,” former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD), a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate discussed the mass shooting in San Bernardino, CA that killed 14 and said shooting like yesterday’s happen here because, “We’re the on developed nation on the planet that doesn’t do a damn thing to keep combat weapons out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them.”

O’Malley said, “Well, it could well be and probably is an act of domestic terrorism and in some ways when you look at the carnage that’s been created in all of these mass shootings, we sadly started to grow numb to this. This may well be an act of domestic terrorism but it is made easier by the fact that we’re the on developed nation on the planet that doesn’t do a damn thing to keep combat weapons out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them. The fact that Paul Ryan would talk about due process and these sort of issues is outrageous in the wake of something like this. The fact that a terrorist subject on a no-fly list can actually buy a combat assault weapon in the Untied States is ridiculous. We need to do better. I am the only candidate seeking our party’s nomination that’s actually passed comprehensive gun safety legalization with a ban on the sale of combat assault weapons with universal background checks and you know what not a single hunter lost there right to hunt in the state of Maryland.”
