Missouri Governor Eric Greitens spent Veterans Day visiting the state’s troops stationed in Qatar and posted a message to his Twitter account to praise the troops and offer a special message to their families.

On his Twitter, the Gov. said, “Great privilege to spend Veterans Day with Missouri National Guard troops in the Middle East! These soldiers are doing important work to keep Americans safe. Thank you to all who serve and have served!”

“We’re here with some fantastic soldiers from Missouri who’ve done an exceptional job serving the country and the state of Missouri in the Middle East.” the Republican governor says on the video. “It’s Veterans Day, and we want to let everybody in the state of Missouri know that these guys are coming home soon. You guys excited? They’ve done a fantastic job over here, I’m really proud of them, and everybody in Missouri should be, too.”

Gov. Greitens first took office this year and is currently the second youngest serving U.S. governor. He graduated from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and served as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy, where he earned a list of commendations including a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
