U of Wisc. Coach Awards Walk-On Player a Surprise Scholarship During Quiz Game

University of Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen was looking for a fun way to surprise walk-on long snapper Connor Udelhoven with a scholarship and decided that a little UW quiz game was the perfect way to do it.

The coach assembled the team in the film room and began to ask questions of the players saying that their prize for a correct answer was a Badgers bucket hat.

After several players won a hat with correct answers, coach Anderson landed on Udelhoven and gave him the question of how many walk-ons were awarded scholarships this season?

Udelhoven was given the multiple choice answers of 6, 8, and 10. The young player chose 6 and was told he was wrong.

“Six? No. It was 8, but now it’s 9. You’re on scholarship,” the coach deadpanned as the room erupted in applause and shouts of joy.

Udelhoven may not have gotten a new Badgers bucket hat, but his scholarship was arguably a tad better reward.
