Philadelphia fans are known for not being harsh on their hometown athletes and providing only constructive means of criticism. Not really, but sometimes the jabs from the hometown faithful can provide just the right spark to get things done.
Enter, last night’s heckler during the Phillies and Cubs game.
Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper has struggled mightily this year to live up to his massive $330 million contract. Those mighty struggles continued on Thursday night as Harper failed to get a hit in his first three at-bats. This fact, was not lost on a fan who reminded Harper of his lack of hits, and the size of his contract.
“$330 million, 0-for-3,” the fan said.
“Shut the f**k up, stupid!” Harper replied.

That exchange set the stage for what was undoubtedly Harper’s biggest moment in Philadelphia so far. With bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Harper hit a game-winning slam that traveled over 400 feet.
BRYCE HARPER, YOU ARE THE MAN!

The Phillies still trail the Nationals in the NL Wild Card race, but that gap is shrinking. Maybe the Phillies should encourage fans to heckle Harper from now on?
