Texas City Votes Down $1.5 Billion Data Center After Lengthy Citizen Protests

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — After more than eight hours of public testimony in front of the San Marcos City Council, city residents celebrated a 5-2 vote by the council denying zoning changes that would allow for the construction of a large data center near the city. Citizens opposed to the plan erupted in applause as the results of the vote were announced shortly after 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Austin Convenes Session to Help Staff Understand Women

Now that the Austin City Council is comprised of seven women and four men, the first time in its history that the majority of members are women, the city manager’s office decided that staff interacting with the council needed some education as to how women think and act, and convened a two-hour training session on March 27 with speakers from Florida delineating how women are different from men.
