Feds to House 3K Migrant Teens at Dallas Convention Center

Federal officials will utilize the Dallas Convention Center to house up to 3,000 unaccompanied migrant teens to respond to the overwhelming numbers crossing the border. Dallas officials notified city council members to the Department of Health and Human Services’ intent to utilize the convention center to house 15- to 17-year-old unaccompanied migrants for as much as 90 days.

Hurricane Laura to Push ‘Unsurvivable Surge’ onto Texas-Louisiana Coast

National Weather Service officials called Hurricane Laura’s expected storm surge “unsurvivable.” The category 4 could push a storm surge as high as 15-20 feet onto the western Louisiana coast and up to 15 feet on the far eastern Texas coast. The surge could go inland as far as 40 miles in some areas, officials warned.

Puerto Rico: FEMA Officials Arrested in Hurricane Relief Fraud Case

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Federal authorities said Tuesday they have arrested two former officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the former president of a major disaster relief contractor, accusing them of bribery and fraud in the efforts to restore electricity to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
