A new controversy spread in Mexico as two sons of the country’s former President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) are allegedly being tied to a large-scale cartel-connected fuel theft and smuggling network.

A series of ongoing raids by Mexican authorities uncovered how Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) managed to quietly set up its fuel theft and smuggling operation throughout northern Mexico and South Texas. The new revelations come soon after Breitbart News Foundation reported how CJNG established a cell of gunmen in the northern Mexican state of Coahuila.

Authorities in Mexico arrested 11 members of the country’s National Guard for protecting an alleged cartel fuel theft operation in Central Mexico. The arrest comes at a time when the U.S government has singled out the theft of fuel and its underground market as one of the biggest revenue makers for drug cartels in Mexico.

A Utah oil magnate and his family are free on bond as they await trial on federal money laundering charges tied to a complex cartel oil smuggling scheme. The family members are charged with smuggling more than $300 million in cartel oil into Texas and then selling it.

Mexico’s government confirmed the death of 66 people and dozens more injured following a fuel explosion in the state of Hidalgo. An attempt to illegally tap into a fuel line to steal gallons of fuel is currently listed as the cause of the explosion.

Approximately 200 villagers kidnapped and assaulted a group of Mexican soldiers after a raid aimed at arresting fuel thieves. The violence follows days of unrest in Mexico after federal authorities shut down the country’s oil pipelines in an effort to target fuel thieves.
