Bodies of Two Drowned Migrants Found in Rio Grande

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents found the bodies of two migrants floating in the Rio Grande border river that separates Texas and Mexico. The agents found the bodies within a few hours and less than a mile apart on June 7.

Migrant Apprehensions So Far This Year Exceed Total Years for Last Decade

The number of migrants apprehended along the southwest border after illegally crossing the border so far this fiscal exceeded the total fiscal year totals for the past decade. Border Patrol officials stated. Officials stated that if the trend continues through the remaining four months of the year, the apprehensions will hit the highest numbers since 2006.

Migrant Apprehensions at Border Hit 144K in May, Says CBP

115 Migrants Held by Smugglers for Ransom Rescued in Ciudad Juárez

Mexican police in Ciudad Juárez rescued a group of 115 migrants being held against their will by human smugglers earlier this week. Police were tipped off to the incident by an anonymous report. The police raid resulted in the arrest of three human smugglers — one, a Central American migrant from El Salvador.

Another Migrant Drowns in Texas Border River

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents recovered yet another body of a migrant who appears to have drowned while illegally crossing the Rio Grande border river. This is the fifth such drowning in this sector this fiscal year.

‘Breaking Point:’ Migrant Family Apprehension Up 374 Percent, Say Feds

Border Patrol officials announced that the apprehension of migrant families who crossed the border illegally between ports of entry skyrocketed by 374 percent when compared to the first six months of the last fiscal year. Agents apprehended 189,584 Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) during the first six months of Fiscal Year 2018, which began on October 1, 2018. This is up from 39,975 during the same period in Fiscal Year 2018.

92K Migrants Apprehended After Illegally Crossing Border in March

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced on Tuesday that Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 92,000 migrants after they illegally crossed between points of entry in March. The apprehensions represent a 35 percent increase over February’s numbers. So far this fiscal year, Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 385,000 migrants.

Caravan Migrant from Viral Video Arrested on Assault Charges

A caravan migrant from Honduras who complained about being given beans to eat during her journey through Mexico is now in a Texas jail facing one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  The woman became the topic of a viral video during her journey. The woman’s sister is also facing similar charges and both have an immigration detainer placed on them preventing them from bonding out.
