The wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman claims that the video that was published by Rolling Stone when the magazine released the now infamous interview by Sean Penn was done without permission.

The video was to be redacted and not published the way it was, said Emma Coronel, the current wife Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera during an interview with Mexican journalist Anabel Hernandez.  The journalist reached out to Rolling Stone for comment; however, the magazine declined to comment.

When asked if she thinks that American activist may have played a role in her husband’s capture, Coronel replied “I don’t know.”

The interview, which aired this weekend on Telemundo, has been described as hard hitting in Mexico. During the interview Coronel said she fears for her husbands safety and claimed that he is being mistreated by the government.

Hernandez did not hold back when asking tough questions about Guzman’s criminal activity.

When asked about those who depict her husband as a bloodthirsty murdering criminal, Coronel replied that her husband is not like that.

“I don’t know where they get that, It is very unfair to claim all that about him,” she said. “The Government has mountains and mountains of files about El Chapo this El chapo that, drug trafficking, murder so forth,” Hernandez asked.

Coronel replied that the people making the claims are some who don’t know the reality of what they are talking about and  at times what they say it is fed by the government.”

As previously reported by Breitbart Texas, soon before his capture, Guzman met with Mexican soap opera actress Kate Del Castillo and Sean Penn. during that time, El Chapo was reportedly having a flirtatious relation with Del Castillo. Mexican authorities created a media storm by releasing various text messages and other embarrassing information about the drug lord and the soap opera starlet.

“I admire her work,” Coronel said. “I have never felt jealous of her.”

El Chapo’s wife asked the need what was to release that before the government had gone through the proper investigation and trials.

“Who cares about that,” she said.  Coronel said that her husband often spoke about having a movie made about him so that he could tell his side of the story.

“He’s very very smart,” Coronel said. “He didn’t go to school but his intelligence is from stumbling through life.”

When asked about her husband being named as a top billionaire by Forbes magazine, Coronel said she has yet to see those billions.

According to El Chapo’s wife, her father, brothers and other relatives have lost everything over the persecution by the government of the man she loves.

“The government made him the most wanted man, but he was not,” she said. “I’m not sure if they did that by accident or if they did it to cover up more important things.”

Coronel claims that she has been crossing the border form Mexico into the U.S. since she has both citizenships and that she has never been denied entry.
“They have never asked me about him,” Coronel said talking about the process of going through customs inspections when entering the United States.
