IRS Obamacare Deputy Put on Paid Leave
The deputy to Sarah Hall Ingram, who is in charge of the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) office implementing Obamacare, has been placed on paid administrative leave for violating rules related to accepting free items as part of a 2010 conference.
Buzzfeed writer John Stanton reports that another IRS employee violated the rules and will be punished as well.
IRS Obamacare deputy Fred Schindler allegedly received $1,162 in free food and items during a 2010 conference.
Buzzfeed says a source claims the case was referred to the Department of Justice for prosecution, but “it was not acted upon.”
“[Acting IRS Director] Danny Werfel learned of the situation last night and immediately asked his leadership team to take action. He has also been in contact with key congressional committees about the situation,” said an IRS statement.
