IRS Official: I Don't Think Disneyland Conference Was Wrong

On Thursday, the IRS official at the center of the agency’s scandal involving a lavish 2010 conference at Disneyland that cost taxpayers $4.1 million said he did not think the conference was wrong.

Testifying before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday, Faris Fink, the Small Business and Self-Employed Division Commissioner, was pressed by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) if he thought it was wrong of the agency to hold the conference.

“I don’t think the conference itself was wrong,” Fink said. He said he and other officials should have been “more diligent in our responsibilities to the American taxpayer” and that they should’ve paid “closer watch to our expenditures,” but that the purpose of the conference was justified.
