Former Sen. Chuck Hagel’s confirmation hearing for Defense Secretary late last month drew gasps from Beltway insiders. How could a candidate for such an important position be so comically unprepared, so unable to defend himself against a series of tough but appropriate questions?
It’s perfect fodder for political comedians–a longtime Senator battered and bruised for his pathetic public showing.
Tell that to the writers at Saturday Night Live.
The increasingly hard-left comedy show used the Hagel hearings to blast–wait for it–Republicans for loving the state of Israel too much. The sketch below, which aired last night, is not only painfully unfunny but more proof that the show has little interest in attacking anyone in the political realm with a “D” before his or her name.
