Harry Shearer, like most modern humorists, hails from the left side of the ideological aisle. The Spinal Tap rocker isn’t above mocking those on his own team, particularly if their hypocrisy soars so high it’s impossible to miss it.
Take Hillary “Dead Broke” Clinton, the potential presidential candidate who gaffe’d up her Hard Choices book tour by claiming to be financially destitute after leaving the White House in the late 1990s. It was nonsense, of course, but Clinton’s unforced error convinced a few comics to smite her financial confusion.
Enter Shearer, who fired off the following zingers earlier today.
From “Hard Choices”, p. 363: “The Lear jet or the Gulfstream? I’d toss a coin, but I don’t carry money.”

From “Hard Choices”, p. 429: “If I accepted Jamie Dimon’s donation first, would that make the Goldman Sachs guys upset?”

From “Hard Choices”, p. 517: “Trying to decide whether to do the $200,000 speech or the $250,000 one. Heck, I’ll do both!”
