A Honduran man who had entered the country illegally but had been allowed to stay under Obama’s DREAM Act is now facing federal charges after he allegedly tried to lure a 14-year-old into a hotel room for sex. The girl turned out to be a federal agent. “Hernandez-Rodas is a Honduran National who resided in Laredo legally under the deferred action for childhood arrivals (Dream Act),” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office obtained from Breitbart Texas .

Agents with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested 24-year-old Fernando Hernandez Rodas last weekend in Laredo. He appeared  before U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Scott Hacker this week for an initial hearing. During that hearing Hacker formally read the charges against Hernandez and ordered he be held without bond.

The agents had begun an investigation into Hernandez on April 15. He had been communicating with them through emails and texts thinking that he was talking to a 14-year-old girl, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.

Hernandez allegedly rented a hotel room and headed to a local business to pick-up the girl under the impression that he would be having sex with her. In reality HSI agents, Laredo Police and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office were waiting for him and arrested him when he arrived.

Hernandez entered the country illegally but he was granted temporary amnesty under what the U.S. Attorney’s Office called the DREAM Act, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive action, which allowed temporary permission to legally stay in the United States to those who entered the country as children.

Earlier this year Breitbart reported on the arrest of 15 DREAMers in connection with a national sweep of wanted criminals. Of the 15 DREAMers 14 of them had previous convictions and one of them had been given a renewal of his temporary amnesty status despite a drug conviction.

Earlier this year another DREAMer was arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint when she tried to smuggle a group of illegal aliens under orders of a local drag queen, Breitbart Texas previously reported.
