SULLIVAN CITY, Texas — A Texas border cop believed to have stolen marijuana from the evidence locker has resulted in the Texas Rangers raiding the small police department in this border community. The cop had been tied to a series of controversies in the past, including getting caught snorting cocaine at a strip club.

Earlier this week, Texas Rangers raided the Sullivan City Police Department as part of an ongoing investigation, Texas DPS Sgt. Johnny Hernandez said to Breitbart Texas. Because the investigation is ongoing, Hernandez was not able to provide additional details on the case.  The Texas Rangers appeared to be after police videos that show the officer taking drugs from the evidence locker.

The case began when someone at the department reported that Officer Angel Armando De La Mora had collected a small amount of marijuana from the evidence locker and taken it, The Monitor newspaper in McAllen reported.

De La Mora claimed he would use the drug as part of a homemade remedy. The remedy in question is apparently made by putting marijuana remains into alcohol, which is then rubbed into aching joints.

Sullivan City officials have since suspended the officer pending the outcome of the investigation.

While De La Mora claims to have taken the marijuana for innocent purposes, Breitbart Texas has learned this is not the first time the officer has been investigated for drug use.

Breitbart Texas was given access to a March 2012 internal investigation by Sullivan City Police, conducted after De La Mora was found at a local strip club appearing to be heavily intoxicated, with a white powdery substance on his nose.  As part of the investigation, De la Mora was forced to take a urine exam. He failed and resigned immediately afterward.

After the police chief in that city was fired, De La Mora was rehired, and was even featured on an episode of the National Geographic show Border Wars.
