CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — Two suspected gunmen have been arrested in connection with the murder of three women whose bodies were found in clandestine graves in this city. The gunmen are members of a Los Zetas Cartel faction.

The two men were taken before a judge on the charges of murder for each of the bodies discovered last week in the Casas Blancas neighborhood on the city’s south side.

Last week, state investigators discovered two separate, shallow graves as part of a cartel probe. In one grave, authorities found the bodies of two women while in the second, a third female victim was unearthed. The Casas Blancas neighborhood is considered a low-income area.

As part of the investigation, the agents were able to tie the two suspects to the murders of the three women. The suspects were taken to the state prison where they await trial on the charge of “aggravated murder”. Since the gunmen are considered innocent until their trial, authorities did not release their names.

The bodies of the victims were taken by forensic examiners so they can carry out the routine autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation into the case. Authorities will also collect DNA samples to compare against databases on missing persons.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “M.A. Navarro” from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.
