Trump Praises ‘Friend’ and Astros Pitcher Justin Verlander’s Golf Game During Team’s World Series Celebration at White House

The Houston Astros showed up at the White House Monday to celebrate their 2017 World Series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trump congratulated the team on the great season.

While honoring the team, Trump said he is friends with ace Justin Verlander, who he said pitched “lights out” last year. According to Trump, Verlander is also a “monster” on the golf course.

“So, I know Justin. Justin’s a friend of mine,” Trump said. “Justin and I played golf and I’m a pretty long hitter, [but] this guy — he is a monster! … We love playing and it was really great.”

The president also told the Astros that the country is currently doing “fantastically well” under his leadership.
