A man in Blackheath has been repeatedly stabbed in the stomach after two other Londoners were stabbed to death on New Year’s Day.

Police were called to Corelli Road in the south London borough of Greenwich at just before 6am on Wednesday morning following reports of a stabbing, reports the Evening Standard.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital and is in critical condition. Scotland Yard have said that no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.

The serious assault came after two separate fatal stabbings in London within hours of each other on New Year’s Day.

London’s Metropolitan Police named a doorman who was fatally stabbed at around 6 am on Tuesday as 33-year-old Tudor Simionov who was originally from Romania.

The victim was killed outside the Fountain House in the upscale district Mayfair. Two other men and one woman also suffered stab wounds.

“Mr Simionov and the two injured men were working as security staff for the private party when they were attacked by a group of males who were outside trying to enter,” the Met said in a statement.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A woman was also stabbed to death in a separate incident Tuesday morning in Camberwell, in the south London borough of Southwark.

Police named the victim as 33-year-old Charlotte Huggins. Ms Huggins had been stabbed at a residential address on John Ruskin Street at 04:20 am on Tuesday.

A man, 34, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and was subsequently bailed. Police said they believe the victim and the suspect knew each other.

In 2018, London saw 134 homicides — topping 2017’s 119 and the highest since 2008 when there were 154 murders.
