The president of the Turning Point USA chapter at a major Texas university is seeing God work among young people due in part to Charlie Kirk’s example.
Annie Cellar leads the chapter at Fort Worth’s Texas Christian University (TCU) and told Breitbart News on Monday that after Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was murdered, God has been moving among students.
“The best part of it is truly just opening people to realize that… this battle is not political, it’s spiritual and whatever I can do to open someone to the truth of the gospel that’s really why I’m here on this earth. Truly, it’s about what God is doing at TCU and ultimately we want to just bring as many people to be saved,” she said during Faith and Freedom America’s Christ and Culture Night.
“I think God’s working at TCU in incredible ways right now, and God is pulling young people to Jesus in this generation through Charlie and through the repercussions of everything that’s happened, which is incredible,” Cellar explained.
Kirk, who was a devout Christian, husband, father, and champion for free speech, was assassinated on September 10 during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, and his murder shocked the world.
Cellar said that following the tragic loss, her chapter doubled in size and now has about 500 members. The spiritual revival sparked by his death has been dubbed the “Charlie Kirk Effect.”
Although Cellar said her chapter has faced some opposition from administrators at the university when it comes to reserving room spaces and hosting events, she noted that many people in Fort Worth have been supportive of the group.
The chapter president also explained that a few of the students who joined the chapter have “been transformed over the last few months” and walked away from leftist ideology.
When asked how she would encourage young people to lead from here, Cellar stated, “Never stray away from God’s presence in your life. And really, you can walk through your life without fear if you just fully trust and surrender to the Lord. That’s what’s going to carry us all through post-grad and everything that God puts in front of us. If we just anchor ourselves in him there’s nothing to worry about. Our fear does not stand a chance when we stand in the Lord’s love.”
